Pastor and Family

Meet the Pastor and his Family
I am Richard Vogt the Pastor of Crossroads Baptist Church. My wife
is Linda and our two boys are James (16) and Joshua (4). My wife and I
grew up in Southern California, where we both met in 1987. We were
engaged in 1988 and were married later that year.
I joined the Army in 1988 and in 1989 was stationed in Wurzburg Germany.
This is where our married life began. In 1991 our first son James was
born, while we were still in Germany. In 1992 I got out of the Army
and went to school in Pennsylvania. I was a Physics and Electrical
Engineering Major. I would study with a young man (Aaron Clipinger)
who would always look for opportunities to share the Good News of Jesus with
me. On March 23 1994, I finally listened to what the Bible was saying
and accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior. At this point things
changed and I could not financially finish school. So, I moved to Las
Vegas to go to work.
Las Vegas is such a growing city and with that many opportunities for
work. I began working as a Civil Engineer in Land Development. I needed a
good church to become a member of and God led us to Lone Mountain Missionary
Baptist Church. While a member there I was given many opportunities to
work in the ministry. I felt God leading me to learn more about Him
and to get prepared for other ministry work. So, I found a Bible
School and Seminary to attend to help me get more equipped for whatever God
wanted to do with my life. I receive a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Theology,
Master of Arts in Biblical Theology, 80% completed with the Doctorate of
Biblical Studies, and have just begun a PhD program in Christian Counseling.
In December of 2000, I felt God calling me to plant a church here in Las
Vegas. I did not know what I needed to do and over a period of nearly
a year God worked out all the details. In October of 2001, Calvary
Baptist Church of Sherman Texas sponsored the new church plant. We
began meeting in our home, then moved to a few different rented facilities,
and are currently sharing a facility with Lev HaShem Messianic Congregation.
In July of 2002, I quit my secular job as the Hydrology Manager of a Civil
Engineering company and began working full-time as the Pastor of Crossroads
Baptist Church.
